Our vision

Learn who we are and why we want to bring a one of a kind, outdoor Children's Museum to the Santa Ynez Valley.

why

Many families complain of children absorbed by screens, unwilling to engage.

Music and art program budgets have been slashed in many state education programs.

  • Santa Ynez Valley is a group of small commuter towns geared heavily towards tourism, with limited places for families to do wholesome activities together without driving 30-60 minutes. Families turn to screens and structured activities for lack of options.

how

The SYV Children’s Museum will be built in at least 2 phases over the next several years.

  • We are currently raising $500,000 to cover building all our Phase One exhibits and our first year of expenses.

  • Once we are open, we plan to raise over $1,000,000 to build Phase Two which will include our hillside slides, climbing hill, nature pathway, and playhouses.

When

We plan to develop the top portion of our lot first, and then fundraise for the bottom half of our space.

Future exhibits planned pending fundraising are a large splashable waterway shaped like a river bed, an immersive rain gazebo, a dino dig featuring casts of real fossils dug by a local paleontologist, multi level slides and tunnels, climbing structures and playhouses.

Children learn best by doing seeing touching playing.

We believe in the power of play to transform the lives of children.

SYV Children's Museum believes in providing enriching outdoor play opportunities for every family in our community and beyond.

All exhibits at our museum will be touchable, movable, buildable and diggable including a large waterway shaped like a river, themed playhouses that reflect the culture of our community, a mud pit, truck zone, organic garden and more.
